Southern Support Initiative
Dogwood Alliance
Community leaders were working to end harmful pellet mills that were destroying local forests and displacing communities across the Southeast, but they didn't have high-quality materials.
Design and produce print and digital materials—including billboards, one-sheet flyers, brochures, and event assets—for field-ready community distribution.
Community-powered materials supported local organizers in successful pushback against pellet mill expansion across Mississippi, Georgia, and North Carolina, while elevating Dogwood's regional credibility.

Frontline Materials for Community Advocacy
A Great Idea designed print and digital materials that put professional advocacy tools directly in the hands of frontline communities across the Southeast. In Gloster, Mississippi and beyond—including organizers in Georgia and North Carolina—Dogwood Alliance needed materials to mobilize grassroots action fast against pellet mill expansion. We produced field-ready one-sheet issue flyers that communicated complex environmental harms clearly and urgently, giving community members high-quality tools to educate, activate, and resist.
Billboard Campaign for Visible Impact
A Great Idea developed billboard campaign materials that brought the Southeast's forest justice story into public view at scale. Billboards are among the most powerful tools in an advocacy toolkit—visible to entire communities, impossible to ignore, and capable of changing the cultural temperature of a region. We designed bold, evocative campaign visuals rooted in the values of communities being served, giving Dogwood Alliance and their local partners a prominent, sustained presence in the fight against forest destruction.
Racial Justice and Indigenous Voices
A Great Idea's work with Dogwood Alliance is grounded in the understanding that environmental justice is racial justice. Pellet mill campaigns across the Southeast disproportionately harm Black, Indigenous, and low-income communities in Mississippi, Georgia, and North Carolina. We designed materials that honored this context: visually compelling, community-first content that amplified the voices of those most directly impacted—work that only an agency with deep equity roots can authentically deliver. A Great Idea produced everything from policy briefs and community handouts to signage used for demonstrations.
