The Power to Lift
As an organization started by grassroots activists looking to ensure San Francisco's long-standing reputation for safe harbor of diversity and discovery, the identity needed to reflect the strength of its founders and current team. A Great Idea worked strategically with EDC leadership to identify the logo and graphic design approaches that pulled from the current identity while establishing a stronger balance and definition of how the organization wanted to share its story. One major shift in the approach was to incorporate a subtle arrow in the knocked-out house of the mark, which suggests elevation, improvement, and a way forward for many who struggle with housing in the city.
The Brand Block
The final logo and brand shifted the palette to a strong red and black softened with the mark’s rounded letters, now in balance with each other. Keeping the logo compact in its horizontal and vertical forms also allows the organization flexibility for use in print and digital design.
Evolving the Online Experience
As part of the brand update, the organization’s WordPress website needed to reflect a cleaner approach than its predecessor. Through sitemap and wireframes, A Great Idea guided the user experience conversation in reconfiguring the current content and reordering new content to better align to the organization.
Putting the “You” in UX
The updated site, with development in WordPress by A Great Idea, optimizes mobile accessibility, applying web design strategies that swiftly navigate uses to resources and connect EDC to its audience always coming back to the mission: “How can we help you?”
Do you offer ongoing support or maintenance?
Absolutely. We have ongoing retainers with many of our clients to perform regular maintenance and security patching. At the end of each project, though, we ensure our clients’ in-house web management teams have the tools and information they need to manage the website going forward.
Will the UI design work on mobile and desktop?
Yes! We build UI design with most common devices and browsers in mind to ensure your website is consistent and usable across platforms.
What’s the difference between UI and UX?
UI (User Interface) focuses more on the look, feel, and layout of your website. This can mean buttons, fonts, and navigation. UX (User Experience) is a bit broader and more structural, focusing on the overall experience. Think of UX as the house, the UI as the paint and the decorations. We often work on UI/UX in tandem as part of a holistic approach to website construction.
Do you offer education website design?
We have over a decade of experience in education website design. Many of our incredible clients are leaders in the education industry, doing work to ensure learning is equitable and inclusive. Our education website design services make it easier for them to reach their audiences and centralize their digital presence!
Can you integrate our CRM, donation platform, or LMS?
Yes! We regularly build custom integrations to enable on-screen donation, sign-ups, or community mobilization.
